A Physician can Sleep Better at Night
I am a HUGE fan of the work and changes made via the DPI™ team. I have been at this health center since we opened 15 years ago. Since we opened, we have always worked hard to improve our practice. We have worked to implement team based care and other practice changes over the past 15 years.
The DPI™ process is what has finally allowed us to break through and make huge leaps towards functioning at the highest level that our patients need and deserve from us. For the past 15 years I have had an intermittent repetitive nightmares/dreams that involve MANY patients waiting at exam room doors upset. I am unable to catch up or finish… everyone is angry and I feel like running from the clinic. I wake up from these nightmares with my heart racing. This nightmare was at times not that far off from the reality of a real (wide awake) session “gone wrong”. 😌
I have not had this nightmare a single time since the DPI™ changes have been implemented. For the first time in 15 years, I can have a session with an extremely complicated patient where I get very behind and actually catch back up as the session progresses. This never used to happen! Previously if a socially or medically complex patient came in to clinic and we got behind, we progressively got further and further behind as the session proceeded. My team now has the tools and processes in place to get the derailed session back on track.
The team is empowered and prepared with the tools to function at a much higher level as a team. The weight of carrying the session and providing the care to the patient we serve is now carried evenly among ALL team members. As a provider, I feel a great burden lifted off my shoulders as we all share in making the sessions a success. I am now seeing MORE patients and GETTING OUT ON TIME!!! Our team feels empowered to work together and manage each session in a much more efficient and effective manner. Our patients are more satisfied and our team is more satisfied. We still have a ways to go to fully implement the changes but we are well on our way. Thanks for all of your work and encouragement.
I am literally sleeping better thanks to Coleman. 🙂
